Our first trip to two canoes, to each his own boat, to each his meditations.
This notebook is dedicated to my daughter Amélie,
because before leaving I had, like her, underestimated her ability to be a vagabond.
When she unrolls this notebook, she is just waiting to leave together with her canoe.
We thought that this trip would be very different from that of 2017, indeed it was really a notch above, as much in the emotions of our father-daughter relationship, as through the meetings that took place.
The title is also a tribute because without my daughter, without Israfil and Tarja, there would be less emotion in this notebook.
This notebook is also a Christmas gift for my daughter, because it is not compulsory to consume excessively to show her that I love her.

Our desire to leave is always sharp after a day of rest.
We made an appointment with Juha about thirty kilometers from here, on an island that we can't wait to discover: it has a sandy beach.
The weather keeps gray, as much as our hearts keep us nostalgic.
That of having left Israfil & Tarja, and that of seeing Juha whom we only met a few hours ago, 2 years ago !
We weave through the last labyrinths and it is at the end of the day that we will begin to sail on the immense waters of the Saimaa.
Amélie still has a lot to learn, however she paddles by displaying the determination that those who believe they know all pride themselves on! Being the only one with a real interest in doing so, I do not regularly deprive myself of my paddler's faults and I wait until evening, to be in the tent, to recognize its endurance, resistance, determination and adaptation.
Our horizon becomes unreachable and allows thoughts to do the same.
The motor boat which overtakes us will cover in a few minutes a distance which will require us a few more hours of meditation to accomplish it.
We will take a break along an island for a good hour, without getting out of the canoes. An hour to discuss, nibble, tolerate that time goes by without reason, and resume our destination around 9 pm.
Tonight we are sailing together, side by side. It's the desire to always savor more that makes us take on a complementary, unstructured rhythm.
We make drone images, and only the light that persists makes us settle on its deadline to arrive at our destination.
We will always remember this end of the day, because it only concerns the family that we are on Saimaa.
Saimaa is a Finnish pride, and Finns always seem to have capital letters in their voices when they say their name.
The next morning, the sun comes out as if to support our desire that this day be beautiful.
We have an appointment and only the images can relate the atmosphere of such a place,
because we are on an island which has this magic side of being able to make us believe that we are alone in the world, without neglecting others, we are not the only ones to savor the pleasures.
No matter where it is, it holds such a precious place in our hearts that we will return there one day.
It is she, in the middle of nowhere.
Flying over often lacks depth to fully appreciate.
Lapinkoïra is the name of this breed of dog that I love so much, and by chance, two specimens are found on the island.
Whistling singularly I invite them to come to the tent, they seemed to wait only for a sign to get there.
Their owners join us to start a very nice discussion. They find that I know the breed name of their dogs perfectly, but they also understand that they also have a lot to teach me about this typical Finnish species, I ask so many questions.
These dogs are usually used by the Sami to manage the herds of reindeer in Lapland, they can be compared to the cooler Boders who know how to perfectly manage the herds of sheep and maintain a close relationship with their master.
This meeting is a revelation for me. I had never talked to this dog before which I so hoped to discover.
At this moment, I dare to believe that their masters can be jealous of the ephemeral complicity which is established between their dogs, and my ego of wanting to convince the canines with the help of caresses abused !
Some are conditioned to detect cannabis, while others naturally find Nutella! .... Yet I had a bit of both!
Your behavior seems to me to correspond so much to mine, that when my daughter leaves me, one of yours will take her place !
Everything is beautiful, the elements impose it.
It’s not the obvious that creates the feeling of beauty, it’s the indomitable feeling.
Even with so little, everything is noticeable.
This day does not leave us time to record the events, we have to swallow every second which already seems to be an extra.
It is an insignificant beauty that takes an indelible turn.
Juha appears and incites the wake of our emotions to become fleeting.
He is looking for a place to set up his anchorage, in order to reach the dry ground on foot.
The prospect of finding him seems so unreal that it seems to depend only on him !
Juha searches for a long time where to drop anchor, only nothing reassures him to settle here.
He will eventually anchor and we will join him on his boat.
We know Juha so little that it's like finding a stranger.
But like his dog Kulikili, it is the feeling of being in good company that prevails and makes us smile.
It is barely 2 pm and we are already starting the bottle of Filipino rum that I had reserved for this reunion, planned since last winter !
Juha tells me about Finland which he carries in his heart and also about the one which generates his negativism.
Then at the end of the day, he harangues a sinner who goes up his lockers and who turns out to be a childhood friend, one of those we frequent at school and who become a memory to revive.
So while Amélie is trying to figure out who is more like the other,
The already forgiven sinner agrees to visit us.
Juha offers to trade some crayfish in order to make it our dinner. The species swarms and remains considered a pest.
Taboo alcohol in Finland is still the best way to prove that friendship exists !
I do not know if it is his wife, I am only supposing it, but not being able to locate people in what they are supposed to represent, it is bad to know them !
The scene seems to me like a snapshot of life not to be disturbed.
Amélie also feels that this moment is not one to be overlooked.
Amélie also feels that this moment is not one to be overlooked.
Juha and her childhood friend start a dialogue whose incomprehensible words depend only on the intensity they use to exist, but the crayfish has no chance of getting out of it, our hungry stomachs are crying out.
The woman also will not say a single word. She observes as much as we do the two friends who find themselves by chance after so many years of not worrying about each other.
Rum against crayfish does not seem sufficient to the fisherman to satisfy his need to trade, Juha will pay him 20 euros, and this illegal gesture in Finland remains as a challenge to the authority, which few are busy trying to challenge.
The Finns obey too much, but they have understood that the freedom to act is not to be considered lightly, because it does not concern only them !
The flag floats like our soaked mood.
The two captains start a discussion that can only feed on outdated memories, and which flatters our notion of knowing how to wait for others. It is the atmosphere which prevails, because even alcoholic, it is the concept of wanting to force oneself to remain dignified which prevails !
This dog is like you, he only needs carelessness to exist.
Yet one day he will die and you will continue to grow.
Yet one day he will die and you will continue to grow.
Hello friend, without knowing if I could have considered you in other conditions.
Ready for leather, it is the crayfish that will taste it !
Boiling water welcomes them without hypocrisy,
while life continues to offer moments little concerned with general indifference.
Even Caesar would surely have approved such a thumbs-up drink so capable of inhibiting dignity. We spent the whole day emptying this bottle and our feeling is not that of unable to speak to each other, on the contrary, managed with friendship, it is the ideal potion to free ourselves from what it seems useless to keep padlocked !
We decide to leave the next day, even with a hangover, because we keep the certainty that it can always float.
