Our first trip to two canoes, to each his own boat, to each his meditations.
This notebook is dedicated to my daughter Amélie,
because before leaving I had, like her, underestimated her ability to be a vagabond.
When she unrolls this notebook, she is just waiting to leave together with her canoe.
We thought that this trip would be very different from that of 2017, indeed it was really a notch above, as much in the emotions of our father-daughter relationship, as through the meetings that took place.
The title is also a tribute because without my daughter, without Israfil and Tarja, there would be less emotion in this notebook.
This notebook is also a Christmas gift for my daughter, because it is not compulsory to consume excessively to show her that I love her.

Let's go for the longest navigation of this trip, the morning is spent dodging the successive storms.
The white smoke that animates the horizon serves as a landmark to reach Imatra.
We will take a break to get eggs, bread, cheese, vodka and pleasures that only correspond to the desire to enjoy the place that is lent to us.
It is the idea of arriving that leads us to keep moving forward.
After two sheltered breaks to prevent lightning from hitting our carbon paddles, the sun seems to want to convince us to continue to the end.
Even without its comfort we would have achieved our goal, because a sauna is the certainty of being able to evaporate the slightest doubt.
Arrived at Imatra we will borrow the river, it is that which leads to the Russian border, only distant of ten kilometers.
The river catches us, the current turns out to be formidable but it is already too late to resist it.
Everything is accelerating so much that it is better to take the time to decide the right option.
We want to reach downtown Imatra before joining the house loaned by Juha and enjoying the evening.
We dock 800 meters after entering the river, however it will take us more than three hours to reach the city center on foot and return to the canoes.
A roadblock prevents the progression of all boats. In the distance it is Russia which collects the fresh water that the Finnish government has committed to make available to it for money, of course !
But the deal is so huge, and as there is a lack of rain, the level of the lakes in the south of Finland drops, so people complain to the authorities that they can no longer take advantage of their pontoons which end up on the banks !
We will leave Imatra around 7 p.m. knowing that there are still around 20 km to go.
Our journey passes in front of the largest wood processing plant in Europe.
There are so many trunks stacked for miles, that there is enough to assume an entire forest.
For almost two hours we sail with the factory in sight.
We will arrive exhausted, hungry and yet stuffed with the satisfaction of having arrived there.
We had to take and go up a river without too much current to reach the cottage, we just had to find the key at the place indicated by Juha.
We have already tested several saunas but this one remains the most brutal ever practiced. The air circulates there in a way that does not allow to feel its renewal, and too quickly, it is the feeling of leather that forces us to take breaks outside or in the adjacent shower.
It is downright a small house with a kitchen and a huge veranda to enjoy all seasons.
The place is no longer used and it is good to wonder "why?"
This "cabin" as it is called here, is supposed to be used by the Finns during weekends or holidays.
It was Juha's father who dug the pond in 1993.
The place is ideal for vagrants like us because it needs a little cleaning! And as it can always be of service, it is done with pleasure.
We stayed three full days to sauna every night and bounce back for more !
Juha came to see us for a little quarter of an hour with her dog that fueled madly, he is on call and can only come to greet us, however he had planned to leave us alone to enjoy the place, it's a relentless notion in Finland.
He must also leave us because Killikuli injures the underside of his paw and sends drops of blood everywhere !
He must also leave us because Killikuli injures the underside of his paw and sends drops of blood everywhere !
It took so little time to catch these few fish that he seemed justified in having done so !
In the setting sun a gang of geese comes to check if there is nothing to glean.
As we have bread that is starting to rot, we might as well offer it to more capable people than we do!
We leave the next day and all we have to do is put the keys in their place.
