Nous avons aussi croisé un lynx;
- Proverbe Finlandais -
3 and a half months of canoeing in Finland in complete autonomy with a drone and a small incursion in Russia which has earned us from being removed from our freedom by Finnish rangers ...
However, we have met so many caring, kind and inquisitive people that we view this trip as a gift of life.
We also crossed a lynx;
Without images of the feline, we wouldn't have said anything !
From mid-May to the end of July we traveled more than 1200 km of canoe and enjoyed a hundred kilometers of portages through national parks, from huge lakes to tiny rivers to mesmerizing marshes.
Until the meeting of a Finnish family that will upset the course of our journey, its purpose and also a little of our life.
The month of August took place around a cabin / sauna at the edge of a lake, which has been lent to us for no time and to which we can return as we wish !
The stranger is our brother; The man who has come a long way is our parent.

No more locks for a while, we continue to go north without really knowing when we are going east to go to Russia.
Finland offers so many ways of traveling that it seems difficult to find the "right way" without maps or GPS.

The biggest lock, the last of this portion.
The swirls are of unexpected power, we let ourselves go back, nothing serves to fight.
It's a big volume of water that has just been released and as soon as the doors join,
the noise breaks out at the other end. An effective system against the eddies prevents us from being afraid, the lock fills in only a few minutes.
The man we had on the phone at the first lock, is in this turret.
The amplitude of the sound is really striking and fortunately the upheavals that happen to us do not correspond to such a din.
Sauna for seagulls !
Amélie manages the battery which is in front of her and reloads, during our navigation, the batteries of the drone on 220 volts! The set is in two well sealed bags.
It's a long day of sailing as we love them
With a one-hour break in the middle,
and sometimes micro-naps of 15/20 minutes directly lying in the canoe.
We are sailing on a giant reflection.
We find a bivouac at the end of a path,
after seeing the boats with the binoculars, nothing prevented us from believing that it was possible.
The first houses are at reasonable distances.
Welcome to our home !
We have taken the tendency to choose paths since it is difficult to find places where to put the tent on a practicable ground.
All possible bivouacs are often so close to houses or saunas that it is better to find an isolated path and not disturb anyone.
The storm is getting ready, however the weather has never been unleashed: good winds sometimes, a little rain but we never had the feeling to endure it.
Finland is a country where it rains little! "400 mm of rain in Lapland and in the eastern Karelian, 550 to 700 mm in the South-West." (Source Wikipedia)
Then we were lucky that the rainy days were mostly set on days off! It allows the pleasure of napping under the sound of the rain hopping on the tent.
We arrive from the very bottom and we will cross everything.
I have nothing to say about this photo but I find it pretty.
It's really nice to sail here, even if the "wild bivouac" corners are not obvious to find.
To travel is not to live but to hope.
