Nous avons aussi croisé un lynx;
- Proverbe Finlandais -
3 and a half months of canoeing in Finland in complete autonomy with a drone and a small incursion in Russia which has earned us from being removed from our freedom by Finnish rangers ...
However, we have met so many caring, kind and inquisitive people that we view this trip as a gift of life.
We also crossed a lynx;
Without images of the feline, we wouldn't have said anything !
From mid-May to the end of July we traveled more than 1200 km of canoe and enjoyed a hundred kilometers of portages through national parks, from huge lakes to tiny rivers to mesmerizing marshes.
Until the meeting of a Finnish family that will upset the course of our journey, its purpose and also a little of our life.
The month of August took place around a cabin / sauna at the edge of a lake, which has been lent to us for no time and to which we can return as we wish !
The stranger is our brother; The man who has come a long way is our parent.
- Finnish proverb -

Une journée inattendue sous le soleil et sous la bienveillance de Jussi-Pekka.
An unexpected day under the sun and under the benevolence of Jussi-Pekka.
An unexpected day under the sun and under the benevolence of Jussi-Pekka.
Jussi-Pekka, a Finn, come to us to tell us that the fire is ready if we want to cook but as we tell him that we cook on gas, the discussion starts ...
We explain to him our presence and I question him, because I also want to know about him.
He offers us very quickly to come with him and his children for an afternoon by boat. It is also a great opportunity for Amélie who does not know the sensations of such a racing car, but first and foremost, we can not refuse an invitation that suggests we discover a Finnish family.
Children avoid crossing their eyes as if nothing happened !
It's the meeting of two worlds since only Jussi-Pekka and I speak English !
Like father, like sons !
This bird makes a noise of didgeridoo, there is one in front of our bivouac and our last night was a hell ... the sound frequency of his cry is recognized to be particularly unbearable.
Jussi-Pekka explains a lot of things about the region, the water, his job, Russia, his life, the Finns and the more questions I ask and the more he answers me, thoroughly.
Jussi-Pekka's children are used to such speed.
But when everything accelerates you do nothing, yet it sticks to you! At your age you do not want to lose face !
It is especially the speed with which Jussi-Pekka takes us under his wing, which surprises us.
Jussi-Pekka, you are the Indian who carries the good word.
Confident, he tells me that he considers that the Finns are people who have a particularly high threshold of tolerance .... What we confirm at the time of writing this notebook.
We are offered to eat an ice cream but the glacier at the lake is still closed at this time.
We go back to our first bivouac .... canoe or hydroplane, it may be a question of standing !
We take a break on an island fully equipped to receive people like us.
We will stay there time to discuss, while sharing some states of fathers souls !
You always look for me when you feel a little lost !
It's good to be around people who are happy to live.
We find our bivouac having traveled in 2 hours, which we will put a day to accomplish in the memory of the family Salmela.
End of an unexpected day that gives us a feeling of happiness.
Even the ducks are Finnish.
Each launch is a silent euphoria, internal and total.
A "video specifications" is needed ... It is the sun that allows us, or not, to recharge drone batteries. Each flight must be a minimum thought and anticipated before its implementation.
The drone has a number of automatisms that never forget to pick up or even bugger, it is also necessary to update the flight software, otherwise it will no longer be able to take off !
It is really a constant stress to fly a drone over the water, I believe that this feeling did not leave us until the last flight.
Then we noticed that this always causes the question .... "Did you fall into the water?!" .... Yes of course!
And we also received several land crashes even after months of training: changing the flight environment is always destabilizing.
And we also received several land crashes even after months of training: changing the flight environment is always destabilizing.
Traveling with a drone is a constraint if you take the subject seriously !
We find this bivouac, which is indicated on our maps as a public campground ...
A human arrives and makes us understand that he owns the land but also that it does not matter if we are there, and that we can stay if we respect the place, then he leaves, after a brief conversation . This remains a very honorable contract.
A last ray of sunshine sneaks between the trees and sublimates everything in its path.
It was at this time that we realized that the next day would be a return to Padasjoki !
