Nous avons aussi croisé un lynx;
- Proverbe Finlandais -
3 and a half months of canoeing in Finland in complete autonomy with a drone and a small incursion in Russia which has earned us from being removed from our freedom by Finnish rangers ...
However, we have met so many caring, kind and inquisitive people that we view this trip as a gift of life.
We also crossed a lynx;
Without images of the feline, we wouldn't have said anything !
From mid-May to the end of July we traveled more than 1200 km of canoe and enjoyed a hundred kilometers of portages through national parks, from huge lakes to tiny rivers to mesmerizing marshes.
Until the meeting of a Finnish family that will upset the course of our journey, its purpose and also a little of our life.
The month of August took place around a cabin / sauna at the edge of a lake, which has been lent to us for no time and to which we can return as we wish !
The stranger is our brother; The man who has come a long way is our parent.
- Finnish proverb -

Le compte-rendu : Nav 34 - 25 Juillet (mise à jour : 14 janv. 2018)
-Proverbe Finlandais-
We are at the gates of Juva and after a day of total rest, under a high voltage line at the edge of the road, we prepare the suite with, now, a little doubt !
We have just made 18 km of portage and there are 40 left.
We have become aware of the energy that this will ask us. The feet also suffer so we try to borrow as much of the river ends to reach the portage road.
It is a decisive day that will change the course of our journey and a little more, but we do not know yet, at the time of the first paddling.
"Superb is the guest guest, even more superb is the one who is not."
-French proverb-

These passages are nevertheless indicated as canoe / kayak routes but it is chaos.
We move towards the collapsed trunk that will force us to find a solution.
Then finally blocked, we recover the road without too much difficulty.
For two kilometers, we are on a track for bikes and the parallel road is a highway that produces an aggressive noise but we take it with a smile, to the sounds of the many horns that resonate with us.
While we were on a side road, a man stopped his car and crashed in front of us gently summing us to stop, not to speak a word of English! His audacity provokes me a giggle that will go again !
He passes me his phone and here I am instantly acquainted with his daughter, Paula, who tells me in English with a disconcerting simplicity, that he is his father and that he wishes to invite us to his home !
Eero Laurikainen. How could one refuse to answer the bold and sincere invitation of this man with whom we have no common language, except that of friendship ?
Eero left, and 15 minutes later he came back with a trailer to facilitate the task, amazing ! But he had also noticed that we had advanced when he made us understand to wait for him !
Eero has a simplicity and calm that allows us to trust him without any doubt.
This is the house of Eero and Mirja. A comfortable room is offered for the time that it will last. We are 5 km from Juva.
It was his father's farm but Eero is not a farmer, he's a real entrepreneur.
Eero built 9 wooden houses and rent them all year long. Mirja is a nurse and that suits her perfectly.
From the first evening, Eero takes us to a friend for a session in a luxury sauna !
The construction is recent, the modern oven and the thermometer scale up to 140 ° !!
Two pikes still alive come from being sins. Before evading it, Eero kills the animal with obvious technicality that works instantly and shows us how to make the fillets before grilling and keeping them for later.
The table is set in the forest, so all the remains are left on the spot and the animals will come to enjoy the bargain.
Filleting fish is an art, and Nordic people like to compete with each other in the discipline !
The sauna in Finland is always accompanied by beer, they given me 3 frozen in my hands and Amelie drinks coca..
We feel that Eero takes care of us, although he does not speak a word of English, just like his friend !
Lahku, the dog of the family. Placid.
Eero and Mirja Manninen are a recomposed couple and it is the small children of Mirja who are present for a few days.
So I propose an introduction to the drone and it turns out that one of the children is a real pilot in grass! His brother, who did not dare to try, looks at us through the window.
It really surprised the children to see that with Amélie we cleared the table with each meal, and that my daughter did not eat chips appetizer at breakfast with coca cola !
We made pancakes and a chocolate fondant, we had to respond to so much kindness.
Mirja shines, when she speaks, it sings. She makes a tom-tom on her back to look after her sick little son.
And she does the same with Lahku to cure her old dog cough.
We find ourselves in the heart of a Finnish family and no one is worried about when we will leave !
It is a house full of life and stories.
At Eero, it's a bit of Finnish history. he will evoke Mannerheim, a national hero, but we must not forget that neither Eero nor Mirja speak English !
Yet I know it's his father's knife with which he was cutting the animal.
That these pants are sheepskin and that Eero used in winter when he was young to go to Lapland on his moped! 700 km away !
he used this bag to put his food.
The moped retouched. This place is like a museum.
Eero's first wife is dead and he is a carpenter, that makes us two things in common. Nordics do not smile on the photos !
While Mirja takes Amelie to the pool for a girls day, Eero takes me to Mikkeli to introduce her friend Perti, for a day between boys !
Then as he discovers that we have a drone, I propose to film all his houses and give him the images for his website. www.lomaasunto.fi
We will also take indoor shots of all houses.
If you want to rent a house in Finland, you will not be disappointed.
www.lomaasunto.fi.
www.lomaasunto.fi.
This house has requested 4 years of work for two carpenters.
Each house has its kota, sauna, access to the lake and everything you need to go fishing. There are wild strawberries everywhere.
There are verandas to enjoy the warm winter and the amenities are very cozy.
With Eero we can spend a lot of time together without talking, it does not bother us and we know why.
I admire his career and he knows that I look at his houses with a carpenter's eye.
This is the smallest house available for rent. www.lomaasunto.fi
The houses are furnished with furniture bought in antiques, it is their way of not overconsumption.
Amelie hunts mosquitoes that devour me because I can not take my hands off the remote in full recording.
Eero shows me all the knives of his father and those offered to him every year is the tradition. I make a photo of the most authentic but there are tens, loose in two boxes !
It is this one, which allows to kill the fish instantly.
All these knives are handmade and made in Suomi. Most are engraved in the name of Eero.
As is the custom of offering a knife to children, Eero offers it to Amelie.
Whenever I say "Finnland", Eero picks me up and says "Suomi", I begin to understand the importance of this nuance in his eyes.
It's the atmosphere that reigns in this family.
Eero prepares the typical breakfast which we have forgotten the name: blueberries, porridge and yoghurt.
Fish too, in this case pike breaded and fried.
All meals were worthy of a reception and we regained strength to see !
Mirja took care of Amelie as a mother and she made him mats every day. His son, Juhis, is director of a university in Helsinki. I was able to converse with him by phone and let him hear how much we are touched by so much kindness !
It was the ritual just after breakfast.
We are invited by Perti, a friend of Eero, for a night in his hotel and as it is the season of strawberries, they stop on the side of the road to offer us 1 kilo of succulent strawberries.
Hotel Ruusu Hovi: Golf, Smoke Sauna, Rooms, Cottages and Restaurant. http://ruusuhovi.fi
I will also do a lot of pictures and videos of the hotel with the drone to offer them to Perti.
Just arrived, we are installed on the balcony terrace and we must choose to eat and drink, we are really privileged.
Between cognacs and apple juice, we drink for the photo.
Eero wait until I finish my beer to smoke sauna but it's already the second after two double dose cognacs! And my daughter wonders what's happening to me !!
The atmosphere is outdated and that's exactly what makes all its charm. http://ruusuhovi.fi
It was the home of the first king of Finland and the building burned in 1921,
and it was at the renovation that the balcony terrace was added to the building.
There are plenty of guests but no one makes noise, the place is suspiciously quiet for a Latin !
On the way to the sauna with sparkling beer and a cold drink for Amélie !
The smoke sauna ... 1816. We met some hotel guests, the discussion started and it was still an unforgettable experience to be naturally included in the group.
However, it is each one's turn to plunge into the lake, to each its tranquility! Then that night, I could believe that fresh water alleviate the effects of alcohol, nothing to do, I was drunk ..... but discreet !
Our royal chamber.
In the night, awakened by hunger, I went to the kitchens where there was a lady who spoke only Finnish but who quickly understood my desire, so she prepared a plate that I devoured everything in it. observing working. She was pleasantly surprised to find that I had done my dishes before thanking her, sated. http://ruusuhovi.fi
The next morning we go back to the smoke sauna to make pictures of the interior, it would have been bad taste to do the day before while people did not expect that.
The oven is huge and the logs are 1m50 long.
Everyone has to go up, nothing happens down there.
The floor is covered with carpets and the place is lined with a fine soot since the oven of this sauna projects its smoke inside the room. The sweet smell of burnt wood is permanent.
This is the biggest home we've seen: 2 meters high and the perimeter is 3 meters by 2. There are stairs to access it. I use the flash, the room is deep black.
The heat of such a sauna is very different from a contemporary wood sauna that rejects its smoke outside, it's so subtle to explain as a sensation, that I can only wish you to discover this wonder !
The water is never far away.
When they understood that my birthday had taken place shortly before, well I was entitled to that !!
Mirja offered clothes to Amelie and certainly love too.
A last photo with Eero, Mirja, Paula and her 4 children. Eero also introduced me to his son who lives in his old house !
One last day before going to the Chalet / Sauna that Perti lent us for the end of the holidays and for the time we wanted! It is Paula who will explain all this to me in English and we are shocked by such a gesture, such attention, suddenly, I make him repeat because I do not believe my ears !
The canoe has not moved from the trailer and Eero does not seem to want to let us do our 40 km portage.
They will take us to the cabin 150 km away, but SupervagabondS has not said its last word .....
We take the road after 4 days and saw everything we experienced in such a short time, we are a little out of our trip, without any regret.
Eero and Mirja will be in Helsinki tonight and we will spend this last day together knowing that we will see them again. We will never forget the kindness you have shown us.
We take a break at the accountant and as she sees me drool over her tomatoes, she offers us delicious. So much, that we will eat them in the wake, in 3 minutes !
We were also entitled to plunge the hand in this hallucinating bucket, several kilograms of freshly picked blueberries !
Finnish people love nature.
We will spend the day making pictures of the houses for Eero, while they make the necessary to accommodate new vacationers.
Stylized sauna !
Nordic atmosphere assured !
It's a nice way to announce the "bathroom". We will leave at the cabin in the early evening without making any image, so taken by the emotion of such a moment.
Here is the cabin ... What to say! Coming back to our duo, we already missed our friends. Kiitos Perti.
This is the best gift we have ever received.
The sauna overlooking the lake, which we will use every day and which will become the essential element of the rhythm of our days.
From the first night, We go out of the sauna to take a break and the panorama grabs us, as the absence of our friends.
