Nous avons aussi croisé un lynx;
- Proverbe Finlandais -
3 and a half months of canoeing in Finland in complete autonomy with a drone and a small incursion in Russia which has earned us from being removed from our freedom by Finnish rangers ...
However, we have met so many caring, kind and inquisitive people that we view this trip as a gift of life.
We also crossed a lynx;
Without images of the feline, we wouldn't have said anything !
From mid-May to the end of July we traveled more than 1200 km of canoe and enjoyed a hundred kilometers of portages through national parks, from huge lakes to tiny rivers to mesmerizing marshes.
Until the meeting of a Finnish family that will upset the course of our journey, its purpose and also a little of our life.
The month of August took place around a cabin / sauna at the edge of a lake, which has been lent to us for no time and to which we can return as we wish !
The stranger is our brother; The man who has come a long way is our parent.

Le compte-rendu : Nav 29 - 15 Juillet (mise à jour : 12 janv. 2018)
Nous continuons de descendre vers le sud dans l'idée de rejoindre le lac Saimaa tout en gardant le cap vers notre point de retour, Padasjoki.
We continue down to the south with the idea of reaching Lake Saimaa while keeping our course towards our point of return, Padasjoki.
We continue down to the south with the idea of reaching Lake Saimaa while keeping our course towards our point of return, Padasjoki.
This is the kind of canals that have been developed to move from one lake to another.
We send the drone and a lady starts the conversation.
All passages that appear free on the GPS, are actually areas covered with reeds.
Sometimes very dense, sometimes very easy to cross, it is always the surprise !
There is a house on the opposite bank and as we pay attention to the tranquility of others, we brush against the opposite side.
It is a sustained wind that awaits us at the exit.
We only have the goal of returning to the starting point as a common thread and this makes our motivation uncomfortable.
By finding on the GPS the path that can be seen on the left of the image,
We thought it would be nice to bivouac here, but the possible terrain turned out to be too far from the water and in a wood where the humidity was especially adapted to mosquitoes !
This is the kind of place to take a break even if it was not planned !
When the sun breaks, everything is revealed.
We were well protected from the wind, and this is the kind of place that suggests we stay there.
We spent a good hour exploring the entire outline to find a corner, but mosquitoes made us hear the wrong choice of our stubbornness.
So we just had a break in the canoe, away from the mosquitoes, projecting our desire on the future.
Do not believe that I chose the bivouac alone ! My daughter always tells me what she thinks and if it does not unanimity, we leave to find another corner.
That day, we really searched a long time for a place to bivouac, and for causes:
We are in the south, in Southern Savonia, it is a populated area and especially it is the holiday period for all Finnish.
there are people everywhere, in every house, every sauna, and an activity on the water sometimes worthy of the Gulf of Morbihan in summer !
The atmosphere is warm, people enjoy being together, eat outside and greet us in passing. We avoid filming them, preferring to leave them alone.
We are on the road to Lake Saimaa, Finnish pride for its ringed seals and freshwater salmon. The Saimaa stretches for 200 km and it is also border with Russia
We plan to visit the Saimaa but we realize that this choice may complicate the task.
Indeed, this region is so populated that we begin to understand that it will be difficult to find bivouac.
The top of the tent emerges from the forest.
It was at 2am when we came across this little beach,
that we decided to be independent !
We had no other choice to be sure of not disturbing anyone and enjoying a wonderful day of rest.
As there were no houses around, we cleared and cut some fir trees on a plot that seemed flat enough.
Last year, Mother Nature had given me a rain of 48 hours, this year for my birthday, a divine sun.
It's also this summer weather that convinced us to settle there,
This beach exists because the water level is a bit low, so it's a kind of gift.
And when we do nothing, we excel.
Our days of navigation require rest and we still do not understand the interest of making a route as fast as possible.
Go as fast as possible is the opposite of the trip we love.
Every day of rest and also a way of breathing the places that surround us and soothe us.
It is a relationship to nature that belongs to everyone and remains an intimate feeling.
It seems to me that it is better to do things right, by appreciating them sincerely, which takes time.
Rather than always wanting to do more, as the number and the quantity always had to determine the profit of a life !
Sitting in the water we take sand in the hands that we let slip between the fingers, and we start again.
A huge barge going to Varkaus to take care of the wood.
During a peaceful night on an island, we were awakened worried by the noise and especially the vibration of one of these barges whose existence we discovered, in a sweet fright !
